Book Spotlight: A Brush Of Violet by Corinne Alexander

High powered business woman, Violet Walker, has long left her artistic days behind. That is until her best friend, Everleigh Harris, invites her to Corbin's Bend for an art festival. What Everleigh doesn't know is that Violet hasn't been able to paint a single brush stroke since turning her back on her submissive desires and spanking needs in college. When she meets charismatic and drop dead gorgeous Charles her world is turned completely upside down. Will Violet, overworked, burnt out, and in denial of her deepest wants and desires, be able to surrender when love knocks on her door?

Charles Robinson, President of the discipline Board in Corbin’s Bend and longtime resident, adores the community he lives in and the freedom it provides for all who live there. Raised in a traditional family; love and discipline are a way of life for him. There’s nothing he wants more than a marriage just like his parents where spanking and romance go hand in hand, even if that means holding out for true love. Is Violet just the kind of woman he’s looking for?

Will Violet risk the life she’s built for herself in blood, sweat, and tears for the undeniable connection she has with Charles, the utter bliss and contentment she feels when she’s over his lap? Can Charles convince Violet she really can have it all? Will this trip be just what she needs to rekindle all that she has lost since joining the corporate world?

“Charles,” Everleigh called out beside her. “You’re just the person I was hoping to see today. I wanted to introduce you to my friend Violet while we’re here.” Everleigh gave her hand a meaningful squeeze grinning at Charles. “Violet’s the friend I told you about. She came to help with the art fair.”

Charles chuckled and held out his hand. His eyes crinkled around the edges as he smiled. “It’s very nice to meet you, Violet. Ever has told me so much about you.”

Violet was breathless as she took in the tall, dark, and gorgeous man in front of her. At just over six foot tall, clad in a well-tailored suit, he had a commanding presence. Barely having the presence of mind to extend her hand, when she did, the electrical currents raced along her nerve endings.

“It’s nice to meet you, Charles,” she said in an effort to keep her composure. “We were just on our way to turn in forms for the fair, and then Everleigh is going to give me a tour of the place,” she said with a bright smile. Her words came out clear with no hint of the schoolgirl reaction happening inside her.

“I would be happy to take care of the forms for you,” he said, reaching out to take them from her, the warm brush of his hand causing her to shiver. “We’re all looking forward to this event. Everleigh has worked magic to make it happen, and we are so proud of her.”

Ever’s face flushed with pleasure. “Well, I didn’t do it alone,” she said waving off the compliment.

I’ve had a lot of help.”

Charles turned his attention back to her. “I’m looking forward to see what you have brought with you to show. I’ve heard how talented you are.”

Her heart stopped at the compliment. Did Everleigh tell everyone how talented I am? She was suddenly sick to her stomach. She felt like such a fraud coming here to an art show, everyone thinking she was so great at it when she hadn’t been able to paint a single painting in years, and it wasn’t even for lack of trying. She had been completely blocked. Her creative energy was gone, dried up. He doesn’t have to know any of that. No one does. You’ll just show you’re old paintings and no one will be the wiser. She forced a polite smile. “Thanks, you’ll have to stop by my booth.”

“You can count on it,” he said, his warm deep baritone a match for the equally warm dark brown of his eyes drawing her in. “Will Everleigh be giving you the community tour after she gives you the clubhouse tour?”

“Oh, I don’t think we’ll have time.” She looked at Everleigh for confirmation. “We’re going to head out after this to take some flyers to some nearby businesses and then maybe head over to Boulder after that to do the same. Hopefully, we’ll draw some additional local interest. We’ve already put ads out on the internet, so hopefully between the two that will be enough,” she added.

“Vi’s here for a week, so plenty of time for that,” Ever interjected.

“Well, if Everleigh doesn’t mind, I would love to give you the full VIP tour around town. If you’re free and willing around lunch time tomorrow, Endelé’s would be the perfect first stop. They have the best Mexican food around.”

Her stomach fluttered at the thought of being taken around town by Charles with all of that authoritative presence focused on her. “That sounds great as long as I’m not needed elsewhere,” she agreed with the caveat. “I’m just not sure what Ever has planned for us tomorrow.”

“Oh no not at all,” Ever said conspiratorially. “I’ll be fine, you go ahead. The tour will be much better with this handsome man leading the way. I have some final touches to put on one last piece that I’m getting ready for the fair, so this actually works out perfectly.”

“In that case, I would love to,” she said with genuine interest.

“Okay, great,” he said cheerfully. I promise you will have a great time. Will eleven a.m. be okay?”

“Yes, perfect.” She couldn’t believe the first day here and things were already taking an interesting turn. It was refreshing to be able to just say yes to a lunch date with no obligations breathing down her neck. It felt so freeing.

Just before he turned away, he said with a wink, “Be sure to have Everleigh show you the room on the main floor that says key code entry only.”

“That sounds mysterious. What is this special access room that I must see?” she asked, curiosity piqued.

“Ohh, I think I’m going to let him show you tomorrow. Trust me it will be much better that way,”

Ever said cryptically, with a grin.

A Brush of Violet features Violet Walker, a woman who has learned that being in a position of power is far more successful that finding a husband. She left her passion for art behind in exchange for a high powered career. When her best friend Everleigh calls to tell her she is hosting an art show in her community of Corbin's Bend, Violet knows she needs the break and reluctantly takes time off from work to attend. Little does Violet know the desires that will reignited inside her in the form of one handsome hunk named Charles Robinson.

In Alexander's debut novel she brings together a workaholic and a man that dedicates time for fun. We see the growth in Violet as she learns to let go and that sometimes it's okay to put herself first. While the novels of Corbin's Bend can be standalone they work better in order as characters from previous stories are integrated into each book. For this to be Alexander's debut, I cannot wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.

Short, sweet, and to the point. I absolutely loved Marry Me In Montana. Amy and her fiance, Jake are headed to Florida for their dream wedding but when they are snowed in and the storm shows no signs of letting up it looks like they'll be late for their own wedding. With an unhappy fiance Jake knows the only way that Amy will lose her attitude is a good 'ol fashioned spanking.

Marry Me In Montana grabs you from the first page and keeps you hanging on until the very end. I would love to see more from Amy and Jake in the future.

The Bishop's First Bride

Rosa Collins was only sixteen when she received a vision telling her of her future husband. Knowing that her husband would be Lucas, the Bishop's son, and future Bishop of Green Valley, both thrilled and terrified her. They were a match made in heaven, she knew, perfect for each other.

But becoming the Bishop's Wife is harder than Rosa anticipated. She struggles to transform herself into the perfect Bishop's Wife that her husband needs.

Lucas misses the real Rosa. Somewhere between getting married, and becoming the future Bishop's wife, his beloved wife has lost part of herself. Lucas knows that a good, old fashioned spanking is exactly what Rosa needs to help her find balance in her unrealistic expectations of what the perfect wife should be. But, try as he might, that balance doesn't come easily for Rosa, and it certainly didn't help that her high school nemesis kept popping up and making trouble.

Will Lucas help her realize that all he wants is for his wife to be happy? Can Rosa pull herself together enough to become the Bishop's First Wife?

I am a 30 something happily married mother of two who recently started writing again after a long break. I recently made a big move that was life changing and gave me time and freedom to start writing again. With the encouragement of friends, I published my first story with Blushing Books.

I'm a spanko by nature and always enjoyed the odd times I would come across spanking scenes in romance novels. When I realized this had it's own genre and publishers, I decided to give it a go.

For now, I write sweet, clean spanking fiction with a twist, but I expect to branch into the world of erotica before the end of the year!

Carolyn stopped short in front of them, and immediately began to fawn over Luke, and ignore the fact that Rosa was even there.

“Lucas Miller! Is that you? Well, aren’t you a sight for sore eyes! It’s been what, two years?” Carolyn drawled, grabbing Luke to her chest in a forced hug. Luke sent Rosa a deer caught in headlights look, and carefully disentangled himself from the force that was Carolyn.

Rosa breathed a sigh of relief. Of course, Luke had it under control. He had always known just how to handle Carolyn.

“Carolyn.” Luke’s greeting was short but kind. He was never unkind-he would make a wonderful bishop, Rosa knew.

“Luke” Carolyn drawled, running a finger across his chest suggestively. “Is that any way to greet an old friend?” Carolyn puffed out her bottom lip in an exaggerated pout and Rosa couldn’t stop herself from rolling her eyes.

Luke was too nice. He actually fell for Carolyn’s pouting, and apologized for his short greeting. Rosa couldn’t believe it. She had always thought Luke too smart for Carolyn’s wiles, and now with a pout and an eyelash flutter he was eating out of her hand?

“I’m sorry Carolyn- that was rude of me. It’s nice to see you. You look well. Surely, you remember Rosa Collins?”

Carolyn smiled at Rosa for a half of a second before turning her attention back to Luke. “Are you just in town for the day Lucas? I’ve just finished my last class of the day, and I was heading over to this little café over yonder to get a snack. Why don’t you say goodbye to your friend and meet me over there in a few minutes?”

Rosa saw red. She didn’t even wait to see how Lucas would respond as all rational thought had left her brain at that point.

She sidestepped in front of Lucas, so that she was effectively wedged between Lucas and Carolyn, and putting both hands in front of her gave Carolyn a mighty shove- causing her to fall backwards into the street, right in a mud puddle. “I’m not his friend- I’m his fiancée!”

Carolyn just sat sputtering in the middle of the mud puddle- big crocodile tears forming in her eyes. “Well- I never!”

“Yeah? Well maybe you should never just a little more often! Why don’t you learn to act like a lady, and keep your hands off of my man! That’s right Carolyn- he’s mine, and we’re getting married in three weeks. Forgive me if your invitation gets lost in the mail!” Rosa was screaming and beginning to create quite a scene, before Luke jumped into action.

Rosa was still screaming choice words at Carolyn, when Luke stepped forward and graciously helped her out of the puddle- which only served to make Rosa angrier.

Her brain completely left her then, and when Luke reached down and offered Carolyn his hand, Rosa pushed him over too! Carolyn saw it coming, and scooted out of the way, and Luke fell in the puddle beside her with a splash, spraying more mud to cover her face and the front of her dress.

That’s when Rosa finally realized she had gone too far. She watched horrified, as a scowling, unamused Lucas rose from the puddle. His eyes were dark as he sent her a warning glance before turning and helping Carolyn out of the puddle.

Walking up to her, he leaned in close. “Do.not.move” he told her, his voice hard between gritted teeth.

Rayanna Jamison has gifted us with a unique flavor in her Love Multiplied Series. It's not just stories about polygamous families, it's so much more than that. It's about the love, discipline, guidance, and friendship that can come from being in a poly relationship. The Bishop's First Bride is no different.

Rosa Collins has a vision at sixteen that she is going to marry Lucas Miller but cannot speak about it until she is eighteen. It's her hardest secret to keep but she knows it will be worthwhile. When Lucas returns home as The Bishop she is of age to speak of her vision.

While Lucas has always had eyes for Rosa he soon learns that the pressure with becoming the Bishop's wife can sometimes be overwhelming. Together him and Rosa will have learn how to work together to meet their needs. Try as they might the road ahead proves difficult but nothing that a good over the knee spanking won't cure.

The Bishop's First Bride gives us a look at living in a polygamous community from a young woman's point of view and the trails she faces. Jamison has brought us a different type of story and I love that she incorporates characters from the previous story into the current story. If you haven't tried out Jamison, there's no time like the present.

Leading The Way (Corbin's Bend #4)

Zachary Cunningham moved his family to Corbin's Bend when everything in their life seemed out of control. In a DD relationship with his wife Erin, he thought things had leveled out now that they lived in a community where everyone watched out for one another and discipline was the norm. Surely his family life could be more settled now.
Erin had never made friends easily and in Corbin's Bend she found it doubly as hard. A little too hard on herself, she ignored her mentor and any friendliness from neighbors; so afraid of making a mistake that she didn't try. Until her husband insisted. Having convinced herself she was doing what he wanted, she made friends with a few ladies who liked to push the envelope a little. From bowling to a strip club to smoking a little weed, her life was definitely a lot more fun, even if she was hiding her activities from Zach.

When her husband and the board of Corbin's Bend discovered their indiscretions, Erin and her friends found out what public discipline really meant. When the discipline led to a larger sense of security and more friendships than she could have imagined, Erin began to understand that following Zachary's lead truly was the way.

 I am a wife, a mother , a grandmother and an author.

I guess my love of writing began when I was at school. It was the subject I loved most.

I didn't write while my oldest children were small because I was busy raising them, also there was no internet back then...hell there weren't many computers at all and those that were there were not much more than glorified typewriters. The internet and high tech computers make life so much easier and although I still have a couple of children at home, I have much more time now to write.

So far this is my favorite book in the Corbin's Bend series, I loved Zach and Erin's kids and the constant sarcasm and bickering from the two. It was nice to see the story from a family setting and not solely focused on just Erin and Zach.

Zach and the kids have found happiness at Corbin's Bend and settled in but Erin feels like an outsider looking in. She feels like none of the women want her there so when Zach takes matters into his hands and makes her throw a party she's soon to find the community more welcoming than she originally thought.

When she makes it in with the "cool crowd" she finds herself in all kinds of trouble that sure to leave a gal's bottom red. The humor of this story had me laughing out loud and I absolutely love how relaxed the story felt as a whole. Leading The Way captured my heart and is sure to be a story I will revisit again.

Exile To Unity (Corbin's Bend 3)

When their preference for BDSM becomes embarrassingly public, Angela and Jim O’Brien decide to start afresh in Corbin’s Bend, a community based on a common ethos of spanking, a place where Ange hopes they can belong.

Ange soon learns that in this new environment, Jim is not beyond chastising her with a good sound spanking as the couple face their past demons and try to recover the closeness they once shared. New challenges soon face the couple. Will their difficulties destroy them or can their move be what Ange initially hoped for, an exile to unity?

Warning: Exile to Unity is an erotic romance containing spankings, anal play and elements of BDSM in a committed consensual relationship. If you find this material offensive, please don't buy the book.

 The accidental writer, that's me!
A lot of writers will tell you that they dreamed of being a writer for years and were making up stories from they were knee high to a grasshopper. And a lot of them loved English class.

I dodged all forms of essay (not even bothering to look for an original or plausible excuse) and entertained myself and by poor desk mate during my English classes by very rudely paraphrasing and taking the mickey out of Francis Bacon...yep, looking back, that's probably when I should have had my first good spanking. If not for wasting my own education, then surely for distracting my misfortunate neighbour.

Then I started an affair with my computer, so much so that I nearly had to be surgically removed from it. And what's an affair without a good measure of hot sex and erotic spanking? And that's how it happened!

When I'm not writing, I'm a wife and mother living in the West of Ireland. My job description varies from taxi service, washerwoman, chief cook, gofer and general finder of lost items. The writing has to fit in around that.

 Blog

Angela and Jim O'Brien while fictitious characters bring a real issue to light. Having a BDSM relationship brought public and the effects it can have on your family, career, and most importantly each other.

When Angela and Jim's relationship becomes public they decided to take off and begin anew at Corbin's Bend, a community that promises privacy while also giving the freedom for them to explore D/s and BDSM.

While the road ahead isn't easy Jim and Angela will discover more about themselves and the healing they need to become happy in Corbin's Bend. It was truly a delight to read and I loved the fact that Angela and Jim's relationship was brought public and we saw the consequences that can happen from someone who doesn't understand the lifestyle.

Sarah's Tutorial (Corbin's Bend #2)

Title: Sarah's Tutorial (Corbin's Bend #2)
Author: Emily Tilton
Publisher: LazyDay Publications

Genre: Erotic Romance

When Professor John Dunn moves to Corbin's Bend, hoping to live the spanking-centered BDSM lifestyle for which he has always yearned, he gets more than he bargained for when his brilliant student Sarah Harshaw sets out to seduce him. Sarah, in turn, gets much more than she bargained for when she finds herself taken in hand, and loving it. Both John and Sarah know that their torrid D/s relationship is wrong, but both also know that they have found in the other a true partner not just erotically, but intellectually as well.

Will their love survive the trials that inevitably befall it when Sarah's parents find out, and confront John? Can Sarah convince John that she knew what she was doing when she entered his office even though wearing his collar wasn't in her game-plan?

I, Emily Tilton, if I exist, am a human rights lawyer who resides in Greenwich, CT. It's more likely that I'm actually someone else, who wishes she were as free to play out her real fantasies as Emily Tilton is.

EXPLORATIONS, which now includes some books written in a more conventional way and published by wonderful spanking presses like Blushing Books and Stormy Night Publications, is a narrative version of my nearly lifelong quest to reconcile my submissive erotic orientation with my ethics. See this post on my blog for a frequently updated guide to the series: http://etiltonexplorations.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-explorations-series-so-far.html

Over the many years since I became aware of my sometimes unbearable craving for ravishment, spanking, and above all anal domination, I have tried to come to terms with that craving in more ways than I can count. The first of the ways was by reading, voraciously, every piece of good BDSM erotica (and of course also a ton of bad BDSM erotica) I could find.

Eventually, I read Story of O. As is reflected throughout EXPLORATIONS, it changed my life, though the change has been gradual, and continues to this day. The idea that other women might share the lusts I have by turns been ashamed of and defiantly proud of, that a woman like the real Pauline Réage might write so beautifully of those lusts, and work them out so thoroughly and even pitilessly on a character, put Réage's famous pencil in my right hand. Or, to put it in the terms of EXPLORATIONS, it put my left hand on the keyboard of my laptop and my right hand in my lap, if you know what I mean. I started to write spanking stories.

John Dunn moves to Corbin's Bend hoping to find a partner that wants what he wants. BDSM, D/s, the works. He's surprised to find how easily that comes in the form of a naughty student named Sarah Harshaw who comes to seduce a professor only to have the tables turn on her.

Sarah gets more than she bargained for and as both couples find themselves falling in love and feeling complete family will come in the way and threaten to destroy that very bond.

I will admit at first this was a little bit hard to get into but overall I enjoyed it. It brought to light how difficult a big age difference can be and the trust that is necessary for this type of relationship to exist.

What's Up Wednesday

This is a new blog hop I found on another reviewer's blog and have decided to join in.

What I'm Reading:
I am currently reading A Brush Of Violet by Corinne Alexander. She's a new author and so far I really like her story. It's easy flowing and definitely fun to read. I am looking forward to finishing it and writing up my review later today. I have found that I really like Corbin's Bend and the community that the author's have come together to bring us.

What I'm Writing:
Currently, I am not writing anything. Lately, my heart just hasn't been in. I am more than likely going to get back into writing fan fiction and flash fiction but I think my days as becoming an author are done because the passion isn't there anymore.

What Works For Me:
I love to read when I have easy listening music playing in the background. It's almost like therapy for me because it's just me, the book, and the music in the background. I work better with noise, I can't stand too much quiet.

What Else Is New:
I have quite a few reviews that I need to get posted up today and some reading that I'd like to get accomplished. Tonight will mainly just be a catch up day on my reading as I really have been wanting to and I have no shows on.

Last night was an intense episode of Sons Of Anarchy and I am sorry to see it come to a close in just four short episodes.

Be sure to visit Jaime Morrow and see what everyone else is up to!
