My Review: Alexandria (Xandie) was bitten by some large animal. Unsure what has happened to her she discovers she has a horrid appetite and nothing makes sense to her. Determined to find answers she soon discovers that truth doesn't make that much sense.

Connor had planned to take his time introducing Xandie to her new lifestyle but when his pack is threatened he has no choice but to swoop in quickly. With a firm hand Connor is determined to help Xandie see that she belongs with him.

This is my first novel by Williams and not my last. The Alpha's Reluctant Mate takes a more real approach on how it would feel if you woke up one day and discovered you were a werewolf and everything you knew about life was suddenly different. Packed with humor, sarcasm, and hot sex this book is sure to be a hit for any reader!

The first touch on her skin wasn't a slap, but she jumped anyway. He trailed a line of kisses down over her skin, soft and gentle. He moved her hands, and then she felt his tongue slip along the cleft of her ass. Her muscles clenched and a shiver ran through her.

My Review:  This is such a sweet, hot, and short story. Kaia is a rocket determined not to give into her feelings for Oliver but when forgiveness tries to seep in, she wonders what it would be like to give into Oliver.

Oliver has knows Kaia for years. He has always felt something for her and collaborating with Kaia is the perfect way to act on those feelings.

Graystone gives us a hot story full of admiration, hope, and second chances. The sex scenes are intense and will leave you breathless. Mix all of that with the beautiful cover and you have a home run. I look forward to more from Graystone.

My Review: When I first started this I had a hard time getting into it but once I got wrapped around Damien and Abrielle's story and watching them fight the strong chemistry that was obvious between them, I couldn't put it down.

 Abrielle had me laughing at her at points because you could tell she was frustrated and all she wanted to do was tear down Damien's walls. Damien does everything in his power to protect her and keep her safe from his demons.

Paranormal romances aren't usually my strong suite but every now and then I find an author that gets me attached to them. I was woven into the mystery of New Orleans and the vampires that reside there. Watching the story unfold anxious for answer.

I would have loved a prologue explaining more of how the vampire coven came to be but overall I was very impressed with the execution of the story. I do hope to see more paranormal from Wane.

My Review: Wren's Redemption reminds me of the stories I read when I first started reviewing books. It is a pure of heart romance about a young woman's fall from grace and the man that can save her. With raw emotions and a good spanking or two Deane brings us back to the core of what Spanking Romance is.

Wren has fallen from grace. After losing the one man who brought her together she has fallen from grace. She hasn't felt fully into her gymnastics and she knows that she must do something to muster her career or she'll fall off like many others have before her.

Jonathan watched her fall and it destroyed him. Coming back into her life to train her he hopes to not only see her career return but also her heart. With a stern hand a soft heart Jonathan has nothing to lose.

Deane never disappoints with her writing but this one is sure to be my favorite of hers. In such a simple story we are moved in ways we haven't been in a long time.

My Review: Summer fresh from a disastrous break up has been stripping as a form of therapy to gain back her self-confidence. She knows her father, The Don will kill her if he ever found out because it'd ruin the perfect princess image he has of her. When she is caught by Carlo she knows her father will be finding out soon enough.

But temptation has a way of finding us. Carlo offers to give punishment in exchange for his silence. For Summer, it is exactly what she needs and soon enough eight years of pent up frustration shows itself. With renewed confidence Summer submits to Carlo but will it be enough for a permanent relationship?

The Don's Daughter is by far my favorite in The Bossman Series. With the dark glamour that is the Mob and a hint of sexy that is Rose it is sure to be a hit. Molded in a believable fashion you can't help but keep yourself glued to this story. If you love steamy submission mixed with a sexy Italian then The Don's Daughter is sure to be a hit for you.

My Review: Although short this is a steamy read. I loved the pace and it kept me drawn in from page one. Audrey is sent to clean out her grandmother's cabin after she passed away. It takes everything to drag Audrey away from her life but she goes.

Bram is cursed to be a water wraith. He's been waiting for someone to break his curse and he isn't sure if that will happen. After living for a 1000 years he all but given up hope until Audrey comes along and awakens him.

I love The Elemental Viking series because it is short, sweet, and to the point. Every book draws you in and you know you'll read it in one sitting. The stories are detailed and keep you involved from page one. I can't wait to see what the next book holds.

Sophie sets up an online profile and spend most of her time lurking that is until she reads an ad posted by the mysterious MC. Little did she know that this one ad would change everything for her.

When you think about reading a book about an online Dom, you aren't expecting a lot of steam and sex appeal but Alleman once again surprises us with her writing style. She leaves us on edge with MC's guidance and Sophie delving into the world of Dominance and submission.

I really enjoyed this and read it in one sitting completely intrigued. I wanted to know everything about MC and Sophie. I craved more and kept up page after page. I cannot wait to read the next one in this series!

My Review: 
Claire has been overworking herself to the point of exhaustion. She pulls long hours during the week and become little on the weekends. She is worried about becoming little 24/7 and refuses to take time off work but when Jensen sees what is happening to his wife he forces her to take off time from work.

While Claire spends the majority of her time off worrying what people will think of her being little all week and how it will change her relationship with Jensen she also discovers that this is exactly what she needed. Once she breaks down and opens up to Jensen things change for the better.

O'Reilly has a sweet writing style. There is always a caring undertone to anything she writes and it's one of the reasons I adore her as a writer. I enjoyed Daddy's Little Sweetheart because we saw the shift in Claire's attitude throughout the story. I look forward to more by O'Reilly.

 Use this card to look at the two sides of you - both good and bad.

 Write a story that involves them fighting, physically, mentally or emotionally. 

Today there are no rules for writing. This one is all on you.

This was interesting for me because I haven't thought about signifier cards. I did some research and chose to shuffle my check and let the spirits guide me to an appropriate card. Gaia (The Empress) is what was chosen for me.

For as long as she could remember Gaia had always held two sides. She fought with incredible strength to keep her positive self front and center but sometimes the depression fought its way through and took over. The power was so strong it'd leave her breathless. She'd turn into a crumble heap on the floor succumbing to it.

She was known for peace, love, new beginnings. How could she be held to such a standard when behind closed doors she was a wreck? In tears she fought to stay to strong. Her people needed a leader. Gaia had felt hurt after she lost the love of her life.

She felt hopeless, fear of being alone too strong for her resist. Her fate seemed decided for her. Destined to be alone. She struggled to be happy. All she wanted was to feel happy and full of life again. She thought back to their final moments together.

She was in tears as she packed away the last of her things. The other woman lay in her bed. Her bed with her husband. How did things get to this point? How did she end up alone leaving making it so easy for the new woman to just stomp on her ground?

The woman gave her a snarky look as she finished putting her things in the car, the only thing left behind was her heart. She doubted she'd ever heal fully from the loss. As she drove down the long winding driveway, she knew she was better off not looking back.

Looking back Gaia smiled as she realized how strong she truly was. She had the power to be happy and by leaving the relationship she found true strength. Her beauty radiated as she promised herself from this day on she would live towards her future and stop revisiting her past.

My Review: I usually stray away from historical novels because I find them slow and boring. Sophia and The Duke kept me wrapped in its pages from the beginning. I love watching Sophia try to transform Nathaniel into a man fit for society. Sophia and The Duke is a perfect example of what happens when people from two different worlds come together and try to make a relationship last.

What starts as a relationship of convenience turns into a budding romance full of lust, spankings, and the need to be wanted. This is my first book that I've read by Peaches but it sure won't be my last! Peaches has a way of writing that draws you despite the fact that the genre may be out of your comfort zone.

Becoming Daddy's Girl

My Review: Once again Alleman blows us away. She has the ability to suck us into her stories. We know for certain we'll cry, scream, kick, and definitely be turned on. Becoming Daddy's Girl is about longing and discovery. For Kimberly finding out her boss is leaving for Iraq leaves her devastated. She has longed to tell him of her true feelings but held back because of his personal situation.

When Charles almost dies after only being away for a short time he comes to realize that his heart has been with Kimberly all along. He craves to be the strong Daddy she wants. He knows that they can make if they can just survive an ocean away from each other.

Alleman has a unique writing style that focuses more on a story-line and feelings rather than the sex. The best part of this prequel is that we get a taste of other characters in the Daddy's series. I cannot wait to see what the next book will bring. As always, these can be read as standalone novels but you gather more from reading the series.

Face Your Demons: October 3

For today’s challenge you will be writing a story about corruption.

 The rules are simple: 

1. Find the two cutest characters in your deck. 

2. Write a story about their corruption. 

3. Include three onomatopoeias 

4. Use the line “And that’s how they fell” or “And that’s how we fell” depending on your POV

John was weary of traveling. He had been succesfully hiding his true identity bouncing from realm to realm. He knew the beautiful woman upon the stage was out of his reach but he longed to have her. She moved gracefully around the stage, it would only be a moment before the sharp surge of pain would hit and he'd be back upon his ship.

He felt himself shaking. Tick-tock, tick-tock. As the sharp snap in started low in spine the familiar sensation would hit. He was back with his crew members. He risked being stuck between realms if he ever developed an intimate relationship with her. Lyssa. He went to every show knowing the risks of traveling in between shows.

He vowed the next show he would speak to her. It was worth the risks to watch her small frame move effortlessly around the stage. At the stroke of midnight he'd be back in her realm.

John had been traveling for as long as he could remember. Cursed by the wizard to remain a pirate for eternity. That wasn't the worst, the worst was when he'd travel and have to figure out what time period he was in. He hadn't been able to grasp the handle of traveling on his own. Instead he was cursed to travel whenever the wizard decided. This was his curse for loving the wizard's daughter.

Lyssa had noticed the strange man in the crowd. He attended every show that she had. She would move in motion knowing that behind the curtain her manager waited for her. He took her in when her father abandoned her. He blamed her for her mother's death. Pier saw promise in her and paid for her to learn how to be an acrobat. She never knew that she'd be owned like a possession though.

As the last show for the night came to a close, Pier was already pulling her behind the curtain. His breath reeked of alcohol and she braced herself for the first blow. He never hit her face though, that was his prize after all.

As the show came to a close John headed backstage to talk to Lyssa in person. He heard a harsh slap in the background followed by a whimper. Withdrawing he sword with a loud swoosh, he moved swiftly to investigate what happened.

Lyssa was rubbing her cheek and a man was lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Her tiny frame shook as she sobbed. "I couldn't take it anymore. I've been so lonely for long and wanted to be free." The large stone prop proved heavy enough to kill the man. Grabbing Lyssa I placed a soft kiss upon her head reassuring her that it would be okay. I would take care of this task for her, for us. To free myself from the curse and dedicate my love to my sweet Lyssa. 

Two lost souls reunited only a world away and that's how they fell. How they tumbled down the rabbit hole with a love so fierce, it struck both of them as oddly familiar. It was as if they had met in another lifetime. Free from his curse, he now only dresses up as a pirate for the opening act.

Face Your Demons October 1st

Elsie or Lily (She goes by either) is hosting a Face Your Demons Tarot Challenge over at her Tumblr page Something Inspirational. I am going to do a few catch up posts as I just stumbled upon this. You'll find duplicate posts here and over at Nichols Reviews as it is a writing challenge.

The purpose of this challenge isn't only to get your creative juices flowing but also to help you interact more with your Tarot cards. This is something I've been wanting to dive back into plus I enjoy writing when the muses hit anyways.

Stories are posted every odd day (1.3.5.7 etc) so I am going to get caught up on the 1st and 3rd storylines.

Today's story revolves around your relationship with the devil and how he effects your (or your character's life).

Rules: 

1. Take from your deck (or mine) the Devil card from the Major Arcana and meditate on what he means to you.

 2. Write a story from a first-person point of view. 

3. You must include the phrase “This is my demon, my personal devil.” in your story.

I watched from afar as she eyed me. Batting my eyes I knew that I wanted to get to know her. I had always imagined what her touch would be like caressing my skin. She held the rose, the key to knowing who she would choose to take to her room tonight. I came to these parties hoping for a chance. I ran my hands over my skirt trying to smooth out the wrinkles. Adjusting my mask I headed into the crowd in search of her.

The music at His & Hers pulsed through me. I knew I could get her to choose me, I just needed to be bolder. The flamboyant costume she wore made no sense in a BDSM club. The harsh crack of leather surrounded me. Women were submitting to their masters. I ached for someone to own me, to possess me.

My Review: Jenny has lost everything. Her brother has passed and her greedy family has promised her to a wealthy man. Disguised as a man she heads to the mining town of  Coloma to stake her claim and make it on her own.

Cody cannot believe the full figured woman he runs into used to be his friend's little sister. She isn't so little anymore and he is determined to take care of her. His friend Nigel agrees to help him tend to Jenny in her time of mourning but taking care of her turns into a love that neither of them can deny.

Under the care of two handsome protectors, Jenny is determined to make the most of her fresh start. I loved Staking Their Claim because it stayed true to the time period. You didn't read about Jenny already knowing about sex when she was just a virgin. We follow her journey towards healing and love in the most unexpected places. I also loved the slight age play undertone. It wasn't heavy or just thrown in. It was subtle and didn't take from the story. I really enjoyed reading this and cannot wait for more from Sinclair.

My Review: From the cover alone I knew I wanted to read this. I knew I wanted more from Zane and Aria. There was an air of mystery surrounding Alpha just from the synopsis. Aria goes looking for Zane to get more answers about that night. That horrible night that left her without her family and the one man she truly loved.

Zane, the bad. The Alpha. The man wrapped in secrets left that life behind him. He always knew that someday Aria would come looking for him, searching for the truth but sometimes it's the lies we tell ourselves that keeps us strong.

I have been an avid Knight fan since I started reviewing three years ago. In her newer novels, she has taken a darker more edgier twist. There has been suspense, love, danger, and of course a red bottom or two. I was grabbed from the start and knew I wouldn't put this down until I knew Zane and Aria's future.

My Review: Being an immortal viking in the modern age proves to be difficult. Mikkel feels trapped in a world of loneliness. He has to watch his attitude because if gets too upset well he bursts into flames but when Joanna comes again, he begins to feel something he hasn't felt before.

Joanna is  in a class of her own. Haunted by her own demons and full of anger herself, she struggles to maintain normality. Can these two save each other or will they both be swallowed by the fire burning within?

I haven't read A.J. Tipton before and I usually struggle with paranormal because it has to have a certain flavor to keep my interests. Once I started Her Fiery Viking I couldn't put it down. There is such a unique twist to it and I really enjoyed reading it. The only thing I would've liked to see is more of an emphasis on Mikkel's past but overall it was a wonderful story and I look forward to reading more of Tipton's work.
